We’ll enlighten you first on what exactly a virtual icebreaker is, and why it’s good to have one on hand for your next meeting. Our list of 35 different virtual icebreakers and team-building activities for 2023, have all been tried, tested and enjoyed by team Slido – even by the introverts among us. But this can be a thing of the past when you introduce the humble icebreaker to get people talking and to loosen them up. In this post, I’m going to show you how I created a home office accent wall that works as the perfect Zoom background, with no mess in sight. We’ve all been there – the start of a virtual or hybrid meeting where there’s an awkward silence. Something had to change, and it definitely needed to make jumping on Zoom and looking professional a plug-and-play situation. The people on the other end of the camera were usually treated to a background littered with school books, papers, and math problems messily scrawled on the giant whiteboard wall behind us. We adjusted the layout to fit us all in, but the video calls? They looked like a hot mess. As you can imagine, things started to look a little displaced. And all of us are on multiple Zoom calls a day. We added another desk (their 15-minute DIY homeschool desk) plus a craft table. Now, I share the office with my two kids. ![]() I used to work alone, I only had one desk, and video calls were infrequent (basically nonexistent). ![]() My home office has gone through a lot of changes since I designed it back in 2019.
